GV TESOL Diploma and TOEFL Preparation at GV Calgary
Among the many specialized courses offered at GV Calgary, the GV TESOL Diploma and TOEFL/Academic Preparation continue to be very popular with students. Kathryn Doikas, who is the instructor for GV TESOL, notes "The course prepares students to practise and experience teaching techniques rather than just observing them." Kathryn also points out that Dominique Cueni, who received the "Student of the Month" award in October is a good example of a student who received a benefit to her career by completing the course. "As a high school teacher, Dominique learned many new techniques and a refreshing new perspective on language teaching." In fact, Dominique was returning to her teaching in Switzerland immediately after finishing her course, so she gets the chance to try out new strategies right away!
GV Calgary also offers TOEFL Preparation, IELTS Preparation and Cambridge courses, which also help students to prepare academically across all the English skills level. Our TOEFL instructor, Claire Suchy, comments "Students who participate in the TOEFL preparation course benefit from exposure to a broad range of academic topics as well as intense practice of test-specific skills which are designed to enhance overall performance on the TOEFL exam. GV Calgary students graduating from the TOEFL program have entered both undergraduate and Master's degree programs in colleges and universities across Canada and the United States."
At GV Calgary, we like to challenge students so they make a lot of progress whether they are in a General English class or Specialized Courses. Programs like GV TESOL are proving to be extremely popular, and in fact GV Calgary has added an extra course to the 2008 schedule from August 25 until October 17, so international students have the choice of four starting dates next year for the 8 week course. |
