A Fun-Filled Day in the Mountains

Students and Events Coordinator, Derek Wilson, made a day trip to the Rocky Mountains – only 1.5 hours from Calgary. Banff National Park is beautiful any time of year.

Snow-capped mountains against a big blue sky make a beautiful sight. The first stop was at Lake Louise, famous for its lake and world-class ski resort. Some students took in the International Ice Carving Competition and watched ice carvers from around the world race to create amazing sculptures.

Other students participated in activities they may not have the opportunity to do in their country such as: skating on the frozen lake, snowshoeing or cross country skiing around the lake. The day ended with a visit of the town of Banff and its historic sights.
