Surfs Up in Hawaii!
Each winter, Oahu’s famous renowned North Shore welcomes some of the largest and most daunting waves on the planet. In turn, world class professional surfers such as Kelly Slater and Andy Irons compete in a number of first-class surfing tournaments held every winter in Hawaii, the Van's Triple Crown of Surfing; the O'Neill World Cup; and the Billabong Pipeline Masters. The Quiksilver Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational also takes place each winter, which is only held when waves reach a minimum of six meters. Hawaii is truly surfing heaven!
For students who aren't yet ready to surf the big waves, Global Village Hawaii's English + Surfing package include surfing lessons twice a week at Waikiki beach on Oahu's south shore – where the conditions are optimal for beginners. |
