Meet Diana

We are very pleased to welcome Diana Burmester to our school and to introduce her to our partners. Born and raised in Guatemala, Diana recently graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa with a major in History and Theory of Architecture. Diana joins us having worked in the language travel industry in Guatemala and she has a strong background in customer service while living and studying in Canada over the past six years. Diana is working in the registration and homestay areas of our school and will be able to assist our students and partners who require help in Spanish as well.

Diana will also be welcomed into the sports component of our events program, particularly on the soccer field. Diana has captained the Guatemalan Women's team and is also a Canadian University All

Star, so no doubt GV students will try to be on her team when they participate in this popular school activity.

Diana notes, "When I came to Canada to study in 2002, it was a new adventure in my life. I then joined the school’s soccer team, I got to travel many places, and I made long lasting friends. I now have my degree and a new adventure begins in Calgary Alberta, where I know I’ll be able to help students feel welcomed and experience the great Canadian life."

Successful Cambridge Advanced Student

Simon Spichtig recently completed the Cambridge Advanced Preparation Course at GV Calgary and scored a high grade on the CAE. Here is what Simon had do say about his experience:

"The time I spent in Calgary, Alberta has been the most perfect, the most fulfilling time in my life that I have experienced.

From the first day I felt comfortable both in the city and at school. The people of Calgary are probably the friendliest I’ve ever met and you can not ask for better weather during the whole year.

The school is marvelous and the staff extremely professional. The teachers are awesome. They help you however they can and it seems that they always find the easiest way to explain the language. Here at GV, I got the opportunity to deepen my English skills and due to the fun activities to enjoy my stay the best way possible.

Furthermore, I met amazing people from every corner of the world. Though we were all from totally different cultures, customs or tastes,

it didn't take us long to get along wonderfully. I could establish unforgettable relationships which gave me so much every day and I will easily miss them the most. I truly had the time of my life in Calgary. From the Rocky Mountains to the prairies of Alberta and from the hockey rink to the country dance floor, I'm going to miss all of it."
