IALC (International Association of Language Centres)

IALC language schools provide language immersion training through thousands of high-quality courses for all ages, levels and needs.

IALC is an international non-profit association that for close to 35 years has been accrediting independent language centres that teach the language of their country. As well as outstanding teaching standards and service, IALC language schools have individual character and a real connection with their local community.


IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication. It uses a nine-band scale to clearly identify levels of proficiency, from non-user (band score 1) through to expert (band score 9).

IELTS treats all test takers with the utmost fairness and respect by actively avoiding cultural bias, and accepting all standard varieties of native-speaker English, including North American, British, Australian and New Zealand English.


Cambridge Assessment English

Cambridge English Qualifications are in-depth exams that make learning English enjoyable, effective and rewarding.

Assessment helps schools and students to reach the highest standards. As language learning can be a long process, it’s important to have regular milestones to aim for – our exams provide focus and pace to keep students motivated, every step of the way.


Languages Canada

Languages Canada is Canada’s national language education association representing more than 210 private and public members that offer accredited English and French programs Accreditation – Quality Assurance is a critical element of Languages Canada. All member schools are required to be accredited under one internationally recognized and comprehensive scheme. The Accreditation Scheme operates at arm’s length, is transparent, confidential, and maintains the integrity and rigour of Languages Canada’s standards and processes. Each level of review is done by a different member of a team of highly qualified, independent professionals.

EQA (Education Quality Assurance)

The Education Quality Assurance (EQA) designation is available to public and private institutions in B.C. that meet or exceed quality assurance standards set by the province of B.C. All post-secondary institutions and language schools hosting international students on study permits must have EQA designation. Global Village Victoria has EQA status.

PTIB (Private Training Institutions Branch) - Designated Institution

In British Columbia, private training institutions are regulated by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training, which is responsible for ensuring certification standards and requirements are met, as well as providing a student protection scheme. Certified institutions are either "Registered" or "Designated". Designated institutions meet additional requirements associated with a higher level of quality. Only designated institutions can apply for B.C.'s Education Quality Assurance (EQA) designation, required to enrol international students on study permits. Global Village Victoria is proud to be a PTIB Designated Institution.

Students who enroll in a GV Victoria language program which is six months or less in duration or for which tuition is less than $4,000 may not make a claim against the Student Tuition Protection Fund managed by PTIB. Further, short-term programs may not have been reviewed nor approved by the PTIB.
